For more than 125 years, St Ernan’s has been a familiar landmark on the shores of Loch Pottie, overlooking the beautiful landscape of the Ross of Mull.

Built in 1899 by local crofters and fishermen using locally quarried granite, the church has been part of community life for generations.

Over the years, its walls have witnessed countless important moments, including weddings, funerals and gatherings that have brought local families together.

Now in community ownership, St Ernan’s has an opportunity to begin a new chapter while preserving the history and memories that make it such a special place.

As we work towards restoring the building, we’re also keen to learn more about its past and the people who have been connected to it over the years.

Do you have memories of St Ernan’s?

Perhaps you attended a wedding or service here, have family photographs taken outside the church, or remember stories passed down through the generations.

We’d love to hear from you and see any old photographs, documents or memories you’re happy to share.

These stories are an important part of St Ernan’s heritage, and we’d like to help preserve them alongside the building itself.
